Provost Automobiles
35 years of passion
Bernard Provost has always been a car – and a 24 Hours of Le Mans – fanatic. In the 1960’s, he started in the cars’ world as an apprentice in a body shop. When he was 24, Bernard Provost decided to create his own body shop thanks to his few years of experience. The Carrosserie Provost was born in October 1973 on small premises located in “La Croix Georgette” in Le Mans (France). Supported and egged on by his wife, he began alone with an apprentice. But quickly the premises became too small.
In 1977, the firm moved to bigger premises at the 209 Ter, Avenue Rhin et Danube in Le Mans. The activity developed further and therefore Bernard Provost required more labour force. In 1987, he created an area dedicated to mechanics. Then the Carrosserie Provost became Provost Automobiles.
In February 2006, Provost Automobiles was transferred to Saint Saturnin, close to Le Mans, in order to attend to it’s customers in the best conditions. Now, we can welcome them on 1400 m² premises equipped with the latest technologies.
As the years went by, we dedicated our activity to prestige and sports cars. Bernard Provost and his employees acquired knowledge and an expertise specific to top-of-the-range cars: old or new, British, Italian, German, French or American, from simple maintenance to complete restoration.
Today, Provost Automobiles is able to propose a high-quality restoration for your car. Our team deals with everything and can do your whole car up like new: body (steel, aluminium and polyester), paint (classic or polished and shinned paint), mechanics (engine, gearbox and axle), saddlery (seats, hood, tonneau-cover and dashboard), electricity, chromes and interior woods etc.
We also can help you to prepare your car for rallies or races like Le Mans Classic. We can make the necessary modifications so that your car gets a stage one tuned engine and/or respects safety standards (e.g.: roll bar, safety harness etc.).
